The Ludruk art development discussion event with Ubhara is one of the public activities of the Arek Institute. It is a work program from the Real Work Lecture (Kuliah-Kerja Nyata or KKN) of Ubhara students who aim to develop Ludruk art. This activity discusses matters related to the development of Ludruk art for young people and its current progress.

The event also features T.P. Wijoyo, a history enthusiast from the Begandring Surabaya community, who presents material on the history of Pagesangan village recorded in various inscriptions from different historical periods. The session aims to narrow down the cultural discussion into a knowledge-sharing session with Ubhara students currently undergoing the KKN process.

Therefore, the discussion about the development of Ludruk art cannot be separated from the landscape of history and culture because they complement each other. Pagesangan, as a cultural village and the Ludruk village, has a long history and identity, as evidenced by its existence in inscriptions presented by T.P. Wijoyo, such as:

  • Kancana Inscription (860 AD)
  • Kakuragan Inscription (1023 AD)
  • Canggu Inscription (1358 AD)
  • Selamandi Inscription (1394 AD)
  • Pratapan II Inscription (1418 AD)

On one hand, Pagesangan village is an archaic village. On the other hand, it is also one of the villages that developed Ludruk art through the Ludruk Warna Budaya Pagesangan group. Therefore, Pagesangan village can be marked as a cultural village with diverse cultural activities.
